I see who you really are, the you you try to hide.
I look into your eyes and I can see, the tortured soul inside.
You're not perfect and you don't try to be.
I wish that everyone else could see.
The you that's never seen without one or two books.
The you that doesn't really care much about looks.
The you that is hurting, a fact they cant comprehend.
The you that has wounds that time cannot mend.
You're nice to me and no one else.
It's like I have you all to myself.
Why can't everyone look beyond the image of you they see?
They need to learn and accept that no one's perfect, not even me.
You've been through various pain and hurt through which they've never been.
They don't realize or understand that scars aren't only left on the skin.
Your life has been hard, you've had to be tough.
I want to scream "Stop it he's been throuh enough!"
There are two parts of you that've been good from the start.
One, of course, is your soul, the other your heart.
You may seem tough, but you're gentle and kind.
Inside that stubborn head is a brilliant mind.
Everyone is special in a way--even you.
Though no one else sees it, just know that I do.
You're smart and you're talented, and not just in fighting.
I'm not talking about music, I'm talking about writing.
So, if you think that no one cares, please know it's not true.
